Parents, Why s.W.E.A.T.?
Approximately 70% of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries occur during non contact situations such as landing from a jump or during turning, twisting activities when a sudden knee imbalance occurs. S.W.E.A.T. is a jump training program that focuses on proper jumping and landing technique while enhancing physical performance. We utilize the only scientifically proven program (Sportsmetrics) to prevent knee injuries in females using a combination of plyometrics, strength training, agility and flexibility drills. This is an excellent program for both boys and girls!
Programs
The purpose behind S.W.E.A.T. (Speed, Weights, Endurance, Agility, and Technique) is to provide athletes of all ages with the benefits of an injury prevention program in addition to a complex sports conditioning program including age specific weight room strength training. Our comprehensive 6 week summer training program is really our bread and butter. We focus on teaching proper jumping and landing technique while improving athletic performance in the following areas: plyometrics, agility, speed, power, balance, flexibility, and overall confidence.
We also offer 3 day spring camp over Spring break for conditioning, agility and speed work in addition to isolated sport specific training. These camps will be offered in Alexandria, Wheaton and Parkers Prairie.
Facility
We house our workouts at Jefferson High School in Alexandria and at Wheaton High School. Here we have access to basketball courts, grass fields, track and well equipped weight room for strength training. The convenience of a multi surfaces facility with access to a fully equipped weight room breeds an environment of hard work, motivation, and excitement for all ages.
Sportsmetrics
We utilize the Sportsmetrics program developed by Cincinnati SportsMedicine & Orthopaedic Center. Sportsmetrics is the first ACL injury prevention program scientifically proven to decrease serious knee ligament injuries. Sportsmetrics™ is not just another plyometric training program. Training proceeds from technique development to performance enhancement with each session building on the previous bout of training. See the Sportsmetrics heading for more information.
What to expect
We will start at the scheduled time for each session so please arrive 10 minutes early and be ready when your session begins. Each session is about 1 ½ hours with very few breaks so come ready to work. We will meet in the gym at Jefferson High School unless otherwise instructed. The weight room is the last portion of the workout daily. If you do not finish your lifts within the session time you will be allowed to stay and complete them under supervision.
Pre-testing, Post-testing is optional this year. If you’d like to participate in the testing, please choose one of the pre-test dates and one of the post-test dates. You should allow yourself about 40 minutes to complete testing, 50 minutes if you are registered for the video analysis.
If you are unable to make the session you signed up for, just let your instructor know and we will do what we can to make accommodations to come to another session.
We try to provide a positive, quality experience for all of our athletes. Any disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and our staff will contact parents if any issues arise.
Supervision
Our philosophy is very simple. We want each person that enters this program to improve physically and mentally throughout the course of the program. This is obtained with low instructor to participant ratio to ensure that each athlete receives individualized recommendations and attention.
